Unhappy new year, Gaza.

Slain Gaza children.jpg

One hour into the new year, I couldn't find much room in my heart for rejoicing. I kept retrieving and reading a text message I received from Dr. Jemilah of Mercy Malaysia, early yesterday afternoon. It read...

"Salaam. I am leaving tonight for Egypt and onto Rafah, to set up a pipeline for aid into Gaza. Don't worry, it is safe there. Pray for us and the people who are suffering there. Happy new year, I love all of you."

Please... please pray for my friend and all the broken bodies she is going to try and mend there.

And sweet, sweet Allah, please keep her safe and give her strength. Ameen, ya rabbal aalameen.

I pray that she's going to be safe there. In news earlier this morning, a UN boat with medical supplies and aid for the victims was shot at by Israeli war ship.

Seriously this war is retarded.

I pray that all the Gaza civilians and all those aid workers (especially Mercy) be safe and may Allah protect them all. Somehow this war made my new year turned sour. I can't believe as we counting down to a new year with firecrackers on our skies, our brothers and sisters counting a bullet and bombs that hits their lands. May Allah give them courage and strength.

honestly, why the heck does there have to be war... they're fighting like kids, only this time, they've got weapons and they're slaying people all over the place, and for what ?

please give these people the strength and courage to serve for a better purpose.
and please God, watch over them as they carry out Your work.
There's nothing we wouldn't give to end all these suffering. so if you can hear our prayers, please shine peace and hope into all of their eyes.
Amen.

Let us remember that violence can also come in the form of silence and inaction. May God help each of us to find the appropriate actions to eradicate violence and the voice to speak against violence.

i was heartbroken when i saw the news on tv. usa as a world giant didn't give a good comment either but rather than agree with what israelian did.

this war won't stop there and guess arabs are making some plan for the counter attack.

how i wish "imagine" by john lennon is real.

kak min,
the part that kills me the most about this war is the innocent little children. eventhough the war might come to pass, scars from this tragedy will continue to traumatize them. it's definately hard to pick up the pieces.
dear readers....
continue to pray without ceasing because "to pray is all we can do if we can do nothing"
God bless..

Today, a very friendly man name Haji Aziz is the second man to convince me that Islam is a beautiful religion. Surprisingly friendly man and approachable in a sea full of cold-face. He approached me on the coffee table and asked me where I'm from. The interesting piece of fact I remembered from our conversation was that Maria Menado from the Phillipines was married to a Perak king and became a Muslim. That's what Haji Aziz told me. Interesting....

kak min,
i can see that you just approved 2 new comments so, i assume that you are online. i'm now watching some of your videos on you tube. i didn't know that u like to experiment with knitting. i also like the whole idea of creating something 'jernih" with spices....though it sounds impossible.
well, glad knowing you.
good day=)

Kak Yasmin, just when i thought the beginning of the new year couldn't get any worse, i got a call from my close friend telling me that he lost his entire family in an automobile accident in Gua Musang. So he had to mark the beginning of the new year by burying his family.
I'm loosing faith Kak Yasmin. I'm loosing faith...

derick said...

and kak yasmin, i wanted to send u this short poem i wrote, to mark the sad beginning of a new year. but i don't know where to send it, so i'll put it here:

"a petal falls
swirling in the breeze
i lay my right palm, bare
eyes shut tight
it brushes across my right cheek
and fell into my left palm
i grasped my right palm
and my left cheek was wet."

yasmin said...

derick, please don't lose faith. let's meet and have coffee.

Hey Yasmin...
I am honestly confused about spirituality...but I am praying. It is so sad to me that day by day we are becoming ever more incapable of compassion...I find myself guilty too when I get angry...
been following Gaza on CNN and just yesterday when they decided to enter the city...I began to think...what else could go wrong in the world...humbly though I think we all can just pray and hopefully in our prayers we'll all one day love again and live life with the beauty that God always intended.

Lord...it is sad that we your children have forgotten one thing...we are all your children and yet being brothers we still let u down, letting hatred get the better of us and we fight. Lord bless those who are more giving among us...keep them safe and may one day we all be able to emulate their light.

salaam, all.

sorry i've been largely absent here lately. soon as i finished writing "wasurenagusa" and came back from bali, i was carted off from the airport to ipoh, to shoot 2 tv commercials -- one for petronas and one for spca. just came back from singapore last night where we were grading the colours of the commercials.

no rest for the wicked!!! :-D

hari ini aku lihat dunia
pancaran matahari terik menembusi lubang-lubang papan usang
sekumpulan anak kecil bermain teng teng
kampung pandan menjadi saksi gelak ketawa girang

hari ini aku terbang jauh luar dunia
melampaui kaca besar gah memancar sepolosok dunia
aku halusi satu berita dari wartawan dunia tentang si mata satu durjana
berlagak seperti shakespearre bersandiwara main wayang kulit

jingga.....

It's ok, Kak Min. The sombre mood of the new year celebration is enough to keep any of us in our quiet self. It's good for the soul to be quiet and mourn sometimes.
