I cannot assess the posting but I guess if you are referring to the Petronas commercial, then it must be Jason from Sepet. Good one that!

when people ask me where do i live, i tell them i live wth my parents. then most of the time, they'd go,"go live yourself laa, you big baby!dah tua bangka, dah keja pon dok bawah ketiak mak bapak lagi!"

this ad is EXACTLY why i live with them.

and on a lighter note, i think you intended the girl at the swimming pool to wear a two piece, but for OBVIOUS reasons, kena pakai one piece. i was actually surprised it came out at all...hehehe

my dad will be retiring in 3 years time. i just got the news that he got promoted and will be working around the clock. he will spend more time in other states and even overseas....i got emo and scared eversince im the only son in my family. somehow, deep inside of me, i actually wish he would decline that promotion because i feel secure having him around. the funniest thing about it is that i never realize this when he is close to home....silly me

how ironic and touching that commercial was.

yasmin said...

and can you believe it, jason/seong never liked acting! both for sepet and this commercial, i had to literally force him.

"eh, shaddup! act!"

chico said...

ahaha~..asked him to shut up pulak
i guess he isnt those kind of academy-award arthouse actors or dramatic stage performers..
he's just..acting as if he's not..
pretty much like a 'log' which touches hearts easily..sounds so wrong lar this description

Jumping Jane. said...

Haha, very comel lah he, the rambut in the commercial pun like hitam je. In Sepet kan ber-color-color. Hahaha.

Anyway Aunt Min, wanted to ask, my kawan posted a video on facebook from youtube, "Petronas - Reunion Dinner", yours ke? Confused dah tahun ni punya commercial yang mana.

andy gomes said...

mak,
seong is not interested in acting?
and yet there are many REALLY passionate actors out there that are waiting to get their break in this industry....

sorry mak,
im not questioning your desicion or seong's right to act.
it's just that i literally feel like it's not fair=)
it would be better if that oppotunity were to be given to actors that consider acting their life's business.
sorry if i sound offensive....
hope you dont hate me for this.
you are my inspiration and what you personally feel about me matters alot to me.
take care and God bless=)

yasmin said...

andy, it's a not a question of willingness, but a question of ability. i'm willing to be a catwalk model once in my life, but the fact is i'm not cut out for it.

seong is a superb actor. so is mohd syafie. even sharifah amani, a really fine actress who has received praise across europe, admits openly to being outclassed by seong and syafie. it's just this gift of control and perfect timing of delivery which god has given them, despite their reluctance. the rest of us must not envy them, but instead admire them and praise god for allowing us a glimpse of his magic.

Obefiend said...

Hey Yasmin;

Just a dropping by to say that you are responsible for the sudden deluge of sad festive season adverts. You started it with your petronas adverts. Now everyone is doing the "sad festive season advert" thing.

Not so festive now thanks to you. Could you please destroy XMAS for me to? I mean Raya, CNY and Deepavali have all been GLOOMIFIED by you and your minions. Please do so for XMAS too. I am waiting for your XMAS weep fest advert this year. Do not disappoint me. I know you are LIBERAL enough to destroy everything that people hold sacred. If the happy CNY mood can be destroyed with an advert why can’t the feel good factor of Santa be killed too...?

I have an idea

Santa climbed down the chimney and when he was about to put some prezzies down the tree he saw a kid crying behind the XMAS tree. The kid cried because daddy died... que voice over. "In this XMAS season don’t forget those who are alone... sobs sobs"

How... good idea right?

I mean all your "movies" are just extended version of your "festive" season weep fest adverts anyway.

I expect muallaf will again be a weep fest repackaged as a quasi religious film. You are lucky that Malaysian viewers never realised the inch thick make up you applied on each of your rehashed ideas. Lucky too that people are so enamoured by your "creativity" that they look past the wooden and cringe worthy actors you hired in your "extended adverts".

I will prolly get trolled later by your legions of liberal fans. But that is ok. This is my real online handler and URL too. Unlike you I think I am being honest about my ulterior motives.

But hey... big up for to Yasmin for being able to zombify your viewers. I would rather you be the queen zombie rather than Razak Mohaideen, Bade Azmi or that guy who directed KL Evolusi drift

I rather see a legion of simplified anti religion liberals than a legion of mindless love fest film lovers.

At least I will have a jolly good fun arguing with you liberals!

Have a great CNY..... Please make more of these kinds of movies. I love to read the reviews. Those media people are tripping themselves silly trying to put you up on a pedestal! I hope you will be enjoying it too!

Taraa!!

have a great weekend Yasmin

yours truly;
Not a fan of your movie but a fan of your ballsyness!

andy gomes said...

mak....
that is very well said=)
i'm not envious of seong but i do look up to him as a matter of fact.
i have always believed that if an oppotunity is given to someone who really wants it, magic can happen too.
i'm actually referring to very talented but undiscovered actors out there that are passionate and constantly waiting to have their break. in this case, the oppotunity you will be giving them is a life changing one.

take care mak...
i still hope to meet you one day=)
(i'm NOT trying to promote myself as an actor)

Endoru said...

I'm a student in Japan since 2001 & ever since I've not been home for the CNY. I've recently lost my grandma (Dad's side) & my grandpa (Mom's side) which both funerals I didn't manage to attend due to shortage of time and cash.

Watching this video simply syncs with my feelings except it's different from the perspective of me being their eldest grandson, wishing I had spent more time with them.

Bravo, Yasmin ! You've definitely captured the "pride" of the modern Malaysian Chinese hearts that it seems to be so tough for us to throw away and only left to be regretted when our loved ones are gone. You hit the right spot and definitely many would understand the sentiment you wanted to convey.

Happy CNY to you, Yasmin.

oh my,to us( saya dan kawan-kawan),
actor macam seong and syafie lah what we are longing for.
they have the 'orang kebanyakkan' look. which make the film near to us and as if it is real, natural and happen somewhere.

i do not wish to watch a film where every each of them wear a star-diva look. but the act, tak lah ke mana sangat pun. =)

well, kak min, nasib baik la paksa jason berlakon ad ni. rindu la dia.

i know. he is jason from sepet :)

i'd agree with crux, most people think that live far away from their family is the best way. to show that they are so independent.

how true?

well, don't be surprise that most of them even though living far away but still ask for money from their parent.

if you are a dad or a mother, do you think it will be a good idea if your kid move away and left you and your spouse alone? you know, you raise them since they were baby and you won't like the ending.

to me, i will take care my parent until their last breath. i will... definitely i will.

hi yasmin..
i got so much time tonight that i read almost all of ur posts in ur prev blog and this one. except ur archive for 2005,06,07. so,it's not almost lah..2004 and 08 are important for pre little judgment. hee.. im newbie here as i just found out of ur blog existence. they don't teach us to google in business school.

i've always been triggered if there's a news flash or even glimpse about u. not a big fan of yours, but i seriously considered that u have inspired me a lot. a lot..of my views to the world etc etc.i don't know what.but thank u.

i think ur good.i am surely not as good as any part of u but i think i can relate to u. ur thinkings,ur ideas, creativity perhaps..wut i'm killing myself to say here is that u are one talented opinionated person that inspired a lot of people including me.and how's that i still not a fan of yours?silly me!

i seriously believe that u are one liberal woman. correct me if i wrong. sometimes i worry much if u will cross the line in liberalising religious matters.as we may not be the right person to dig out that deepest soil i think.i don't know..i was just saying..but pls don't give a reason of dakwah or teaching others of the religious aspects via ur movies or creative medias as to defend it..

finas, rtm, ol folks gov craps etc maybe aren't as creative, unique(to be said) as u,i agree with the fact.they're not developing at all(and again that's only my opinion).but yasmin,if u don't think of them, just think of our religious sensitive people out here. i'm not a religious person,i haven't been praying for years to make it clear'but i am sensitive to religious topics.as i still have some awareness towards that.to cut it short,i don't like it when u touch that scope in ur film.i just don't think ur eligible for that.

nothing much to say actually, just wanna make my presence here felt by u. i love ur works.really

p/s i came across the comment by obefiend on this pg. just shoo him.i think it's a him.i read his blog and concluded that he's somewhat 'a hating and so much to envy other people' people. seriously, who are u, dear obefiend?just stop getting a free link to your lame blog.and ur design is no good at all.even a non-design-software-familiar people like me can do that. ur works in deviantart are boring and u are lame, lame, simply saying!rite?

(sooner this blog will be a hatred shout place i think*)

yasmin said...

salaam, not proppa poppa.

if you watch my films carefully, you will find that i never really preach. i just make observations and ask questions. as a result, some people who feel themselves qualified, embark upon lengthy preachings, condemning me along the way. they play god, which i suspect might be closer to sinning than observing or asking questions.
