I really wanted to contact you,but I couldn't find any other way. Do not worry I am not a stalker. I just wanted to send you e-mails and probably learn and share a thing or two about your inspirations and film making in general. Please e-mail at kavinmitran@gmail.com

kavinmitran@gmail.com. I really wanted to contact you, sadly, I had no other way to do so. I just wanted to send emails and keep in hopes of learning a thing or two about your inspirations. Don't worry, I am not a stalker. I am just an aspiring writer who is lost. Would also love to mail you some of my work. :)

It's like the oscars, just get nominated is good enough, no need to win.

Puan Yasmin, is this Talentime film first award nomination? Is there more to come?

Hopefully, it will win in some of the festivals.

salaam, ted.

i'm afraid they'll only pay for my producer and i to go. even that is a bit of a miracle, i'm told, as they usually only pay for the director to go.

alhamdulillah!

Hi Kak Min,
I'm a new follower to your blog. May I know what are the reason you've been using the similiar actor and actress to act in the movies that you produce? Of coz no question on the creadibility of the casts. Besides that? I believe there are more rare talents out there awaiting to be polished by talented director like you. Please advice.

yasmin said...

well, chopsticks,

1) cos they're really good

2) cos we understand each other

3) cos they're nice people

4) cos it's too much trouble to keep looking for new people

Tahniah!
A nomination means it is a recognition.
With recognition regardless big or small, we have a social responsibility to improve and continue to improve.
Kak Min, continue the flow of positivity and creativity in your future films.
Be like the flowing river.Always flow towards the sea (greater challenge),always flowing (continuity) and rivers are a great source of water to all(social responsibility).

Thanks.

This is my take in life.
Bila kita ikhlas, jalan di hadapan jelas.
Ikhlas, when it touches your heart,it differiates your efforts from the others. You will shine!
Bila tak ikhlas ,jiwa jadi malas.
Kak Min, I feel that sincerity and warmth in each of your work. It's a form of energy that knows no boundary.

Dear Yasmin!

I pray you read this mail.

Firstly I must say that I am so excited about your upcoming movie “Talentime”. Can’t wait to watch it for so many reasons…
• You movies are GREATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
• You have a deaf character in the movie ( I am not deaf but I am passionate about the Deaf Community and Sign Language)
• You have Jac Victor in it
• You are right – Mahesh is cute
• Interracial relationship
• etc

I really can’t wait!

Dear Yasmin – I am ex-gay and an ex-transgender. Today I am father, a husband, a director of an organization and a happy human being. Just Google search “Edmund Smith Real Love Ministry RLM” and you will read all kinds of stuff (really good and really bad) about me.

I sing, act and dance professionally. I’ve acted in a Singapore movie called “Chicken Rice War”. I released a simple CD (a collection of song I wrote) entitled “Wake Up” into the Malaysian Market. You can read a little about my singing career from this link …
http://www.r-l-m.com/Edmund%20Artiste.htm

I am also a founder of an Organization called “Real Love Ministry”. Our HQ is based in Melaka. We are in the ministry of raising up Befrienders to the Deaf, Exgay and other kinds of Marginalized Communities here in Malaysia.

My life is like a fairy tale…. It was a NIGHT MARE. I have experiencing so much …
• I was rejected by my own father because I was a boy and daddy needed a daughter
• When I was a boy I was raised as a girl by my mother for the first 5 years of my life
• I was raped
• I became a “slut” for the sake of looking for love from any man who could love me
• I got addicted to sex and needed sex every day (had sex with hundreds of men)
• I had sex for money
• As boy I was bullied because I was sissy
• My first sexual experience was with my best-friend when I was about 7. The sex went on until I met my first boy-friend. I broke my best-friend’s heart
• Etc

Dear Yasmin, I believe my story will make a good movie. What do you think? Would you like to work with me? Hope to hear from you. A little of my story have been shared with some of the major Malaysian newspapers. But my deepest secrets have not been revealed yet.

Please reply…

Change is a Choice!
I am Edmund Lawrence Smith. I have walked away from my gay life in 1994 when I was about 24 years old. I am going to be 39 this year. People like me are called “exgays”. An “exgay” simply means – a gay (or lesbian) who has decided to do whatever it takes to stay away from homosexuality.

Every “exgay” has a different story on why and how we ended up here. Mine goes something like this…

congratulations yasmin you deserve each and every of it. you and my fav film maker. :)

Nine of us from RLM (Real Love Ministry) went for Talentime. I’ve been waiting patiently for this movie to come out. It was worth the wait. Oh – I love Yasmin more and more. I love Yasmin more after each move she makes. It is a true Malaysian movie. It touches the soul. It touched mine in a deep way. Thank you Yasmin! You are a GIFT to us. Keep it up.

I like to know (if anyone can answer) …
1. Was that Pamela’s singing own voice? Very good voice!
2. What about Hafiz? Was that his own singing voice? Nice!
3. Was Mahesh using ASL (American Sign Language)? I used SEE (Signing Exact English)

Many of us walked out of the movie with red eye. Mine was the worst.

Hy Yasmin, I m a big fan of urs. I ve watched all ur movies even ur Funeral. Jo Kukathas did a wonderful job with ur direction needless to say. I find that some us have the same wave length to give thoughts about life n ways Malaysians perceive things. Maybe that scroll of literature made us as such. I hope to meet up with you one day to suggest further on the issues you can look into for future films. U can get me at pgopalakrishnan28@gmail.com. Yasmin, tahniah dan semoga TUHAN rahmati mu dengan lebih banyak kejayaan dalam dunia perfileman. Thank you for making the movies with such great values. muaaaahhhhh!
